Aloha

Come as you are

and embrace

the journey of healing,

breathing, and releasing

your body, mind,

and spirit.

Let your inner light

shine through.

  • Our bodies are a unique ecosystem that craves activity, rest, and restoration. Therapeutic bodywork helps to relax, soothe, and release tension, muscle, and all the “stuckness”  built up in your body and mind.
You will experience all kinds of massage techniques depending on how your physical conditions are. Using light to medium pressure to release all over your body tightness and release tensions, opens up the circuit to flow through stagnation.

  • Myofascial tissues surround and support the muscles throughout your body.

The pain usually originates from specific points within your myofascial tissues called “trigger points”. Myofascial release improves blood and lymphatic circulation and stimulates the stretch reflex in muscles.
Fascia is a thin, tough, elastic type of connective tissue that wraps most structures within the human body, including muscle.

  • Shiatsu / Deep tissue massages are used to break up scar tissue and break down muscle adhesions (the “knots” that we feel in our muscles are muscle adhesions, which are bands of rigid and painful muscle tissue).

These knots can inhibit our circulation and cause pain and inflammation. Starts with lighter pressure to warm up your muscles and then works into deeper pressure.
Slow strokes and deep pressure are used to relieve tension from the deepest layers of your muscles and connective tissues in specific areas of chronic pain. It can help relieve tight muscles, chronic muscle pain, and anxiety.

  • Prenatal massage therapy is a safe and excellent way to promote relaxation, mental wellness, and a feeling of calm preparedness for everything that’s about to come. Massage also increases the tone and flexibility of muscles, which makes it easier for mothers to carry additional weight.
It can help both mother and baby stay in better alignment and prepare holistically for a healthy and uncomplicated birth.
Pregnancy changes your body and mind, bringing about a wide range of emotions and aches and pains in places that never hurt before.
Prenatal massage aims to relax muscle tension and improve lymphatic and blood circulation through mild pressure applied to the muscle groups of the body.

Women can begin massage therapy at any point in their pregnancy.
Although each person tolerates massages differently, Some doctors recommend people wait until after their 12th week of pregnancy, so if you are not sure check with your doctor first.

Prenatal Massage Benefits include:

    • Alleviating back + leg pain

    • Reducing labor pain during childbirth

    • Lessening postoperative pain

    • Reducing anxiety + stress

    • Improving mood + lifting depression

    • Easing insomnia

  • There are countless benefits of getting a massage after you give birth, including helping to regulate your hormones, increasing milk production, and even reducing swelling.
Postpartum massages usually include many of the same elements as regular massages. Women who get a massage after giving birth will likely notice numerous benefits to their body and mood that are associated with massage in general.
If you have had a cesarean delivery, talk to both your doctor and massage therapist to be sure it is safe.
If you’ve had blood clots in your pregnancy or previously, your doctor will likely have already recommended you avoid massage. Check with your doctor when it is safe to resume massage.

Benefits of massage for the postpartum mom include:

    • Reduced swelling.

    • Improved milk production

    • Hormone regulation

    • Reduced anxiety and depression

    • Better sleep

  • Maiko is a certified Manual lymphatic drainage Therapist.
MLD is a light, skin-stretching massage that helps promote the movement of lymphatic fluid out of the swollen limb.  It encourages the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues and back toward the heart.

Your lymphatic system helps eliminate your body’s waste. A healthy, active lymphatic system uses the natural movements of smooth muscle tissue to do this. However, surgery, medical conditions, or other damage can cause fluids to build up in your lymph system and your lymph nodes, a condition known as lymphedema. If you’ve ever had surgery on or involving your lymph nodes, your doctor may have suggested lymphatic drainage massage performed by a certified massage or physical therapist.

Therapy is applied to your unaffected areas first, making it possible for the fluid to move out of the affected area, or “decongest” the region. MLD helps open the remaining functioning lymph collectors and move protein and fluid into them, as well as to help speed up lymph fluid flow through the lymphatics.

However, lymphatic massage is not recommended for people with the following conditions:

    • congestive heart failure

    • history of blood clots or stroke

    • current infection / acute cellulitis/erysipelas

    • liver problems

    • kidney problems

  • Ancient Hawaiian restorative healing method, one component of which is the art of compassionate touch. Lomilomi goes far beyond massage, however; it also reflects the connection we have with the land (‘aina), the spirit guides or ancestors (‘aumakua) and the breath of life (aloha). Utilizing the long fluid strokes incorporate heat with hot stones, will melt away stress and tension to allow a deeper relaxing massage experience.

  • What is Gua Sha ?

GuaSha is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve your circulation. GuaSha is intended to address stagnant energy, called chi, in the body that practitioners believe may be responsible for inflammation.
Inflammation is the underlying cause of several conditions associated with chronic pain.
Rubbing the skin’s surface is thought to help break up this energy, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

    What is cupping?

Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which a local suction is created on the skin with the application of cups.

Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair.

It may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the tissue. Not recommended for people who use blood-thinning medication.
Also, avoid cupping if you have:

    • sunburn

    • a wound

    • a skin ulcer

    • an internal organ disorder

    What is Hot Stone?

Hot stone massage is to reduce stress and anxiety, promotes relaxation, and eases pain and muscle tension.

Hot stone massage uses volcanic rock from the Big Island which enables them to heat quickly and retain that heat for an extended period. Before treatment, the rocks are heated in a professional heater before use.
